Improving Lives Through Jiu-Jitsu & Yoga
What is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?
Jiu-Jitsu comes from the Japanese words meaning "gentle art." It is a self-defense system that promotes dominating the opponent without aggression and with technique and leverage instead. In addition to learning how to defend yourself, the benefits of Jiu-Jitsu are numerous and include discipline, confidence, cardiovascular health and muscular strength.
What is Yoga?
Yoga is the Sanskrit word that means "to yolk" or to bring the self, the senses, the breath, and the mind together under calm control and in to the present moment. The benefits of Yoga are similar to those of Jiu-Jitsu and complement it by adding focus and breathing techniques, joint health, spinal stability, flexibility and balance.
Both Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Yoga can be started and practiced regularly by all ages and body types as no athletic experience is required. We offer a wide range classes in various styles and levels. Our mission is to guide each practice safely and teach classes that create opportunities for physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual growth.

" I have trained here for over a year now and can also attest to the sense of family created here between joao, bonnie, and the practitioners of Jiu-Jitsu and Yoga.
Joao and Bonnie are experts at meeting the students at their level and pushing them to achieve greater heights in the art. Whatever your goals are by attending the classes, be it , competition, health, well being , self defense, centering your consciousness, Joao and Bonnie will help you achieve them.
Joao and Bonnie also have a realistoc emphasis on the utility of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as a means of self defense. Coming from a background where he has had to use some of the techniques that he teaches both in competition and in the street, Joao brings another level of understanding to this aspect of the martial art with it's use in self defense."
