Head Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructor Joao da Rosa is from Nova Friburgo, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Professor Joao began martial arts in Capoeira at the age of 5. Joao has been training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu since 1999. He has also trained in Judo, Muay Thai, and MMA. Joao is a first degree black belt under Renato Magno, 6th degree black belt, first black belt under the Machado brothers, and owner of Street Sports BJJ in Los Angeles, CA. Beyond his passion of teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Joao competes regularly in tournaments around the country and leads the competition team at Street Sports Poulsbo. Joao believes that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is for everyone and will have a positive effect in anyone's life no matter their age, size, or athletic ability.
Yoga teacher and Jiu-Jitsu brown belt Bonnie da Rosa began practicing Yoga in 1998 and Jiu-Jitsu in 2013. She graduated from the University of Puget Sound with a Biology degree. She holds an E-RYT 500 hour Yoga teaching certification, awarded to teachers with over 1,000 hours of teaching experience as well as 500 hours of certified Yoga teacher training. Since her first Yoga teaching certification in 2014, she has taught full time at many distinguished Yoga studios and was selected to teach corporate Yoga at Redbull HQ. Her teaching and practice are rooted in a number of Yoga styles including Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Yin, and Restorative Yoga. In addition to her regular Yoga classes, she has been trained to teach pre/postnatal Yoga and kids Yoga. Bonnie teaches gentle Yoga classes, Women's Jiu-Jitsu, Jiu-Jitsu 101, and Kids Jiu-Jitsu for ages 1-3 and ages 3-6.


Brown belt James Harris is 39 years old and lives in Port Orchard Washington with his wife and three kids. He has been working as Medical Surgical Registered Nurse for the last 7 years. In his my free time he enjoys spending time with family, enjoying nature, and bbq-ing. James started his Jiu-Jitsu journey back in 2013. Why does he love Jiu-Jitsu? It's like a never ending puzzle that he continuously wants to solve. It's the anchor in his life and keeps him grounded.
